Swing Bed Program
“Swing Bed” is a concept developed by Medicare to help with underutilized hospital beds and the lack of nursing home beds in rural areas. A patient being treated for an acute condition can remain in the hospital for prolonged IV Therapy, Wound Care, and Rehabilitation Therapy Services. The patient stays in the same bed, receives continued skilled care and is discharged with a higher level of functioning or wellness.
