LaSalle General Hospital History Hospital Service District #2 of LaSalle Parish, dba. LaSalle General Hospital, was created in April 1966 by the LaSalle Parish Police jury. In October 1970, LaSalle General Hospital, a thirty-seven bed medical surgical facility, was opened. The decade of the seventies was one of growth for the hospital. Additional physicians were added, along with several new professional services. From 1975 through 1980, a full-time pharmacy was opened, a cardio-pulmonary service department was opened, a physical therapy department was opened, a full-time dietitian and an ambulance service were added. In March 1980, a 101 bed nursing home was opened, and in May of that year, thirty new private acute beds opened, along with the occupancy of new facilities by all ancillary departments. Today, LaSalle General Hospital is a comprehensive health care center. It operates a full-time ambulance service and its own home health care department. The hospital has been recognized throughout the state as an exemplar for the provision of a comprehensive health care program for rural communities. Thank you for visiting our website.
