What is the Senior Behavioral Health Unit (SBHU)?

The SBHU at LaSalle General Hospital is an inpatient hospital program designed to help older adults in our community who are experiencing mental, emotional or behavioral challenges. Treatment includes group therapy, medication management, activities, family education and support to help patients improve their social, physical and emotional functioning.

These mental health issues may be related to aging, chronic health problems, loss of loved ones or other stressful life events, or they may be conditions that have gone unaddressed for decades. Whatever the origin of a person’s mental health issues, our programs are tailored to help improve day-to-day functioning and enjoy a higher quality of life and improved health.

Why Choose Us?

Our Senior Behavioral Health Unit was designed by experts in the geriatric field focusing on the medical, social and psychiatric complexities of the aging process. Our trained team of health care professionals include a Licensed Psychiatrist, Nurse Practitioner and Medical Doctors and are available 24/7 for patients in the program.
